Kiā ora e te whānau
Monday is not far away and the teachers have been busy preparing the classrooms and organising programmes for next week.
We can’t wait to see all of our gorgeous children again!
Thank you once again for all of your support with our distance learning programmes, and to all staff, both on and off site, for their incredible commitment to our Tawhai School community.
I just want to remind you of the key messages below:
Although we want to see all of our children back, we do understand there may be some cases where children will need to remain at home under Alert 2. Please email me asap if this is the case firstname.lastname@example.org
There is no bubble concept at Alert Level 2 so there are no restrictions on groups of children mixing with others on site. Children will be encouraged to be far enough away from each other so that they are not breathing on or touching each other, good hygiene practices will be implemented and there will be regular cleaning of commonly touched surfaces. Please make use of some of the wonderful resources from the MOE mentioned below to support your child’s return to school.
School staff will be observing children on arrival into the classroom checking for symptoms and ask those presenting as unwell to go to the office. Kelly will follow up with parents if required.
Drop off and pick up routines: Please ensure your child does not arrive on site prior to 8:30am (unless they are registered in Kelly Club). I will be at the front gate to welcome children from 8:30am each morning and Sharon Boese or Lynley Poole will be at the back gate. All teachers will be in classrooms by 8:30 am. If you do need to come on site, physical distancing of 2 metres is recommended from people you don’t know (to align with public health measures outside the school grounds). Class contact lists will be kept in the classroom and will need to be marked. We ask that you leave the classroom by 8:55am so that children can settle with their teacher and peers as quickly as possible. Remember ALL parents and caregivers who come on site need to be marked on the classroom contact list or if they go into the office, in the register at the office. At the end of the day, to reduce congestion, you will be invited to pick your children up from 2:30pm. Please make your way to the classroom and wait at a distance from the classroom. Teachers will be on the lookout, mark the contact list when they see you and release your child into your care. Any children remaining at school at 3pm will make their way to the gates and leave school as normal. Please do not gather in the courtyard area at either end of the day.
Please ensure your child has a full drink bottle at the start of the day.
Children are welcome to bring bikes and scooters but also must wear helmets and walk their wheels into and out of the school grounds.
