Tawhai School

A Special Visit from Mayor Wallace

June 14 2019

Our Student Councillors were very fortunate in meeting with our local Mayor Ray Wallace who visited Tawhai School this morning. After each of the students shared their mihis, Mayor Wallace talked a little about leadership and how important their roles were as leaders and how they showed the Tawhai School values not only their school life but family life too. After answering some very thought provoking and interesting questions from each of the councillors, they took Mayor Wallace, his wife Linda and Councillor Leigh Sutton to see Room 2 Students learning to strip down old bikes using vinegar.
They also viewed a rubbish audit undertaken by Room 12 Students. Lastly Room 11 showed Mayor Wallace a science experiment that involved finding out what objects floated in water.
Thank you Mayor and Mayoress for taking to the time to come and visit Tawhai School.
