Covid 19 Update Alert Level 2
Well I didn’t anticipate writing another newsletter quite so soon……. how things can change so quickly! As I am sure you are all aware from midday today we will be operating at Alert Level 2 and will provide you with updates as soon as we receive them from the MOE and MOH.
One thing I really want to ensure is that all of our children have access to the resources they will need if we do need to move through the Alert Levels again.
Last time around we surveyed parents about devices, however now that we all have a context for what distance learning looks like, we are going to ask parents to complete the survey again. Is is important to us that every child has fair and equitable access to a device so we can deliver our distance learning programme. Unfortunately we do not have 370+ devices in the school……. but we do want to be prepared to support our families in need. Please, please, please take the time to complete the very quick survey.
There is a link below to google doc form which outlines our school procedures but operating under Alert Level 2 means we want……
To minimise the risk that someone gets infected in the first place –
Children will be encouraged to be far enough away from each other so that they are not breathing on or touching each other, coupled with good hygiene practices and regular cleaning of commonly touched surfaces.

School staff will be observing children on arrival into the classroom checking for symptoms and ask those presenting as unwell to go to the office. Kelly will follow up with parents if required. For more details on our hygiene practices please refer to the doc.
To ensure we can identify and contact anyone who has been in close contact with a person, if someone at school is infected:
Parents will be asked to drop children off at the school gates from 8:30am (unless they are registered in Kelly Club).
I will be at the front gate to welcome children from 8:30am each morning and Kelly Robinson, Sharon Boese or Lynley Poole will be at the back gate. All teachers will be in classrooms by 8:30 am. If parents do need to come on site, physical distancing of 2 metres is recommended from people they don’t know (to align with public health measures outside the school grounds).
Class contact lists will be kept in the classroom for parents/teachers to tick.
We ask that parents leave the classroom by 8:55am so that children can settle with their teacher and peers as quickly as possible. ALL parents and caregivers who come on site need to be noted on the classroom contact list or if they go into the office, sign in
At the end of the day, to reduce congestion, parents will be invited to pick their children up from 2:30pm. Please make your way to the classroom and wait at a distance from the classroom. Teachers will be on the lookout, mark the contact list when they see you and release your child into your care.
Any children remaining at school at 3pm will make their way to the gates and leave school as normal.
Parents are encouraged to refrain from gathering in the courtyard area at either end of the day.

Our Reading Together workshop will go ahead this evening and we will ensure hygiene and distance protocols are followed.
Please take care wonderful whanāu – we have done this before and we can do it again.
