Matariki 2021

July 2 2021

Kia Ora Tawhai Whanau,
Next week we will be having our Matariki celebration. This year each Ngā Manu (senior) class has buddied up with a Ngā Kukari (junior) class and will learn about one of the stars that make up Matariki and what they are associated with:
Tupuānuku – Food from the ground
Tupuārangi – Food from above the ground
Waitī – Food from fresh water – streams, lakes and rivers
Waitā – Food from the sea
Waipunarangi – Water that pools in the sky – rain
Ururangi – The wind
Hiwa-i-te-rangi – the wishing star
Pōhutukawa – Remembering those who have passed on
Matariki – Health and wellbeing
From 2pm onwards on Thursday 8th July, we will be having an informal open afternoon where our Tawhai Whanau can come and see what we have been doing for our Matariki celebration. These will be on display in the classrooms.
We will also be having our annual sausage sizzle on Thursday 8th July. There is no charge for this. We would like a couple of helpers to help out on the BBQ (From about 11.30), if you would like to help, please get in touch with Dave Whiteman Rm 3:
Happy Matariki Everyone
