Kia ora e te whånau
Today our kapa haka performance group had the opportunity to perform at the Upper Hutt Cultural Festival. They have been working hard towards this since term 3 with lots of rehearsals and learning new waiata and actions. This mahi paid off today as they were absolutely amazing on the big stage and did Tawhai school proud. Not only did we get to perform in front of a large crowd but we got to watch lots of other schools perform their items as well. Well done to all students involved, your Tawhai values were on display for the entire day, and we are all so proud of you.
A huge thank you to Koraunui Marae for all of you support and a big thank you to Whaea Charmaine for not only working with our karanga girls but making our tamariki look stunning using your stencils for their moko. Thank you to all the parents who have helped out and supported us over the past few days with hair, make up and other important tasks and a big thank you to all the kaiako who helped with dishes, meals and cleaning down at the marae. All of this wouldn’t be possible without you all. Finally a huge thank you to Janette Page and Dave Whiteman for all the hard work that you have put in to make this possible.
Poipoia te kåkano kia puawai – Nurture the seed and it will grow.
