This afternoon, Tawhai School were extremely fortunate to be visited by the Peace Angel Arts Troupe from China. The visitors, 7 adults and 23 children, (ranging in ages from 8 to 15), were warmly welcomed and introduced by our Principal Mrs Poole to the assembled school. Mr Su, the Chinese delegation leader, gave a greeting speech with help from the delegation interpreter. The whole school sang Tutira Mai Nga Iwi for our visitors and then our Nga Tama Toa boys, led by Carter and Cooper, performed a heartfelt and stirring haka.
We were given such an enriching and colourful experience watching the Arts Troupe perform using dance, song, martial arts and calligraphy. The children were absolutely enthralled by it all.
When the performance was over gifts were exchanged between the visiting students and our student councillors, and our visitors were then invited to the staffroom for afternoon tea.
