Last week, Room 6 were thrilled to finish off our Space topic where we all paired up with a buddy to launch some mini rockets.
First, we learnt what these words meant and how they effect rocketships; gravity, thrust, fuel and opposite. Then we went outside to test all of the rockets.
Since it was an extremely windy day we decided to do one group at a time and quickly learnt that some experiments go to plan or others may fall over and fail.
By the end of the launch, we learnt there was a short wait before the rocket blasted off because the Alka-Seltzer tablet had to bubble / fizz which was fuel for our rocket. The gas from the bubbles filled the inside of our rockets and then would get too strong and……POP!
We also mastered our count down. Room 6 loved doing this so much, afterwards we wrote about what we saw and used WOW words like explode, little, mini, fast, high, bubble and fizz.
Hopefully this science box comes back to school next term to give the other things a go.
