In Ruma Waru, we have recently welcomed some new class pets – SEA MONKEYS, aka brine shrimp. We have been learning about water and water safety recently and thought that growing our own water pet would be fantastic.
Last Monday we purified our water and waited a day for it to settle before popping our sea monkeys in. Our little friends didn’t like the cold weather and decided to stay inside their eggs a bit longer. We had to be super respectful of their home and so resilient while we waited for them to hatch. We arrived back at school after the weekend to find some teeeeeeeny little sea monkeys swimming around inside their tanks. You have to look really closely to see them, but hopefully they continue to grow bigger. Today we fed them for the first time and the food smelt funny. We have been enjoying looking at how the water has changed in each stage of growing our sea monkeys.
Below are some pictures of us caring for and looking closely at our sea monkeys.
