Last Friday morning Room 15 enjoyed some Buddy Time with the learners in Room 6. We split into two ‘Buddy Groups’ with half of Room 15 going over to Room 6 and the other half of each class meeting in Room 15. Each member of Room 15 paired up with a learner from Room 6 and asked a few ‘get to know you’ type questions like… When is your birthday? What is your favourite food? What do you like to do best.
After each pair had broken the ice we got down to helping one another and sharing our learning from the week. The Year 4’s and 5’s from Room 15 tested the Year 2’s basic facts and enjoyed being read to from their poetry books. Some Room 15 learners even had time to show off their publishing books and read some of their best writing to their new buddy. Everyone talked about how much they enjoyed themselves and even how they had chatted to their new buddy during break and lunch time. It’s exciting to make new friends and build relationships with other Tawhai Learners from another class! We are all looking forward to more Buddy Time again this Friday!
