Room 3, 14 and 15 Horoeka Reserve Activities

Posted on by Rosa Stewart

Fortunately a break in the weather meant that Room’s 3, 14 and 15 could finally go to Horoeka Street Reserve today to take part in some really cool activities! After Pam Cromarty ( a member of the Friends of Horoeka Reserve) gave the children a short history of Horoeka Street Reserve, the children were divided into 4 groups and rotated amongst the 4 wonderful acitivities that were available today:

They explored freshwater life of the stream with Natalie & Roni from the Mountains to Sea Trust.

Discovered the homes of Pepe Tuna – the giant moth with Claire Reddish from Enviroschools.

Discovered birds! ( Kitea ngā manu!) with Pam.

Made a seed ball or planter with Michelle Ducat from Enviroschools.

The children had a lot of fun and learnt so much too! A HUGE thank you to the parents/whanau who were able to come along too! Here are some photos taken during some of the activities. Thank you to Amy Benson for sharing her photos too!
