There have been a variety of activities taking place this term to celebrate our Arts.
On Tuesday afternoons we have been coming together as a whole school to sing some waiata. It has been a great chance to connect and develop learning between the Kōpara and Ngāhere teams. It has pinpointed some up and coming leaders in the junior end of the school and has provided opportunities for our Tu Rangatira in the kapa haka group to further establish their leadership skills. Most of all, it has just been fun!!
A smaller kapa haka performance group took part in the Upper Hutt Cultural Festival in week 5. We sang a variety of waiata which of course included our school song and haka. This was another great success for this rōpu, making us all exceptionally proud. All of the hard work that everyone had put in certainly paid off as the feedback we received was amazing.

Classes have been busy this term learning about Papatūānuku with a focus on animals. Below is an amazing selection of art work celebrating this topic. There are also a couple of examples of how art can be integrated into other curriculum areas, in this case mathematics.
