Our Learning

Classroom Blogs

Take a peek at what we’ve been up to in the classroom. Don’t forget to show  Mum and Dad too!

  • Learning Support (6)

Shelley Dalton is the Kairuruku Tautoko Ākoranga/Learning Support Coordinator for Tawhai School,

  • PTSG (2)

  • Eniviro (1)

  • Sports (13)

We love our sports at Tawhai School! Check out all the latest.

  • Ngahere Hub (48)

Our Ngahere Hub is for our years 5 to 6 (seniors). Fun fact: ngahere is the Māori word for our native bush & forests.

  • Kōpara Hub (31)

Our Kōpara Hub is our blog for years 2 to 3. Named after the kōpara (bellbird, Anthornis melanura) – an olive-green songbird with a short curved bill and dark bluish-black wings known for its loud, clear, amazing songs.

  • Kererū Hub (25)

The Kererū Hub is our blog for years 3 to 4. Fun fact: our native large green, copper and white native bush pigeon has the widest gape of all New Zealand native birds, which allows it to eat large berries. This makes them vital to our forest ecosystem, as trees such as karaka, miro, tawa and taraire rely on them for seed dispersal.

  • Horoeka Hub (26)

Our Horoeka Hub is our blog for years 0, 1 and 2. Fun fact: Horoeka (Pseudopanax crassifolius) trees have long, thick, stiff leaves with teeth and a central rib, turned down like ribs of an umbrella from a usually slender, erect stem in young trees. Can grow up to 15 m high with a straight, clean trunk and shorter, wider leaves.
