As the term has progressed we have continued to grow our understanding of mental health and wellbeing through our Mitey journey. Our focus has been on creating a safe, inclusive and caring school where everyone can be themselves, feel that they belong, feel valued and know that they have a voice.
The classroom focus has continued to be bringing Mitey Level 1 into our classrooms. As a staff, we have also been learning more about the individual strengths and wellbeing needs of our Tawhai staff.
Our Mitey work connects beautifully with our Tawhai Values – Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Integrity. It has been wonderful to hear and see these values being used throughout our classrooms and playgrounds as our tamariki learn, play, solve problems and care for one another.
It is always an exciting time when we announce our weekly Principal/Student Certificates and celebrate children who are showing our Tawhai Values. Farmer B has been kept very busy refilling the Golden Ticket prize box! It is lovely to see so many Golden Tickets being redeemed and our tamariki proudly celebrating their positive choices and actions.
We are proud of the way our Tawhai whānau are continuing to build a school where everyone belongs, everyone matters and everyone has a voice. If you have any questions regarding our Mitey Program or Reward system please do not hesitate to contact deborah@tawhai.school.nz or your classroom teacher.
