Today will be the beginning of a month of Movin’ March.
This is a Wellington Regional Council initiative to motivate children to use active ways of getting to school. Children are encouraged to walk, bike, scoot and even skate to school. We will also have some fun activities for the children to join in with at school.
Each student will be given a ‘WOW passport’, a card in which will be stamped by their teacher every time a child walks, bikes, skates etc to school. It will be also stamped at morning tea/lunch if the student uses their wheels then. There will be a raffle when students complete their WOW passports for prizes
Here is what’s happening during the Movin March Month:
*The first 2 weeks are a colouring contest. This will be due in on the 11th.
* March 18th is wheels day when each class will get a time to ride around on wheels. The tamariki can bring in bikes, scooters or skateboards.
* March 25th is the obstacle course with information and times forthcoming.
* March 31st is Upcycle Day where students are encouraged to build moving object from recycled materials.
