Poroporoaki

6th April 2023

Kia ora o te whānau,
The whole of Tawhai Kura came together this morning to hold a poroporoaki to say goodbye to two of our kaiako, Mrs Tucker and Miss Whitworth and several ākonga.
Mr Whiteman began the poroporoaki by giving a whaikōrero ( a welcome and explaination of why everyone was at the assembly).
After the tamariki sang the waiata, Rangi rāua ko papa, Tumuaki, Mrs Poole gave her whaikōrero and thanks to the staff who were leaving, and wished our leaving Tawhai whānau all the best.
Everyone then sang the waiata, pepeha>
Mrs Tucker gave whaikōrero and a wonderful gift to the school in the shape of a mandarin tree and an avocado tree which will in a few years be enjoyed by those who attend Tawhai Kura.
After a karakia, (Kua mutu o matau mahi) was said, our leaving Kaiako and Tawhai whānau were given a very stirring haka from our most senior ākonga.
When the poroporoaki was over, it was time for everyone to enjoy some kai!
Our tamariki had already had a special visitor earlier on in the day in the shape of the Easter Bunny who with Mrs Poole had gone into every classroom with a special treat for everyone! So the tamariki were able to enjoy a lovely Easter treat at morning tea!
An album of the visit will be coming soon!
