Whatu Group Invite

3rd May 2023

Kiā ora e te whānau

Starting from Monday 8th May, a whatu (weaving) group will be starting in room 1 straight after school from 3pm to
around 4 – 4.30pm. This will run every Monday afternoon during terms 2 and 3.

Come along if you would like to start a journey to collaboratively learn how to whatu in the traditional Māori
way and craft your own korowai or kākahu taonga. We will also be working on a group project to create a set of kākahu
to gift so our tamariki can wear them while representing Tawhai School.

There is no cost as we have been very fortunate to receive a grant from the Hutt City creative communities NZ fund. All
learning materials will be provided.

All tamariki and whanau are welcome to attend and come and go as you like. You do not need to commit to attending
every week and you are welcome to come along even if you would just like to see what we are doing and have a korero.
